MICHAEL LAU'S LMF FIGURES SET (BOX SIGNED)

For the summer 2002 LMF album release Michael tried out a new style of vinyl figure. Michael created a 3" science fiction robot prototype.

Instead of the rounded corners and smooth style that the Davy Fireball suit had in the previous LMF album cover, this smaller suit was very rough with sharp edges. It should be noted that inspiration for the original Fireball suit and the latest Sci-Fi robot are drawn from the wildly popular Maschinen Krieger series of figures, models and illustrations in magazines like Hobby Japan.

This new style of work that Michael has been producing has not gone over well with some of his fans. His previous work has been stylized but also aesthetically pleasing.

True collectors see this as a learning phase for Michael. He is pushing the envelope in a genre he has created. In order for his work to progress Michael has to take risks. The prototype sci-fi figure is an example of a well thought-out risk.

Michael took the concept started with the Sci-Fi LMF Prototype and expanded on it.

Michael produced a series of small 2.5" LMF band figures and even created 3" robots in matching colors.

The tops of the robots are removable. You can place the head of the figure inside the machine to create the illusion that they are wearing the mechanical suit.

Now it is evident that the style and idea behind the prototype sci-fi suit has come full circle with the release of the complete band. Once again Michael was hailed as an innovator.

HOUSE OF LIU: DIDI AND MEI MEI SET

Both Di Di and Mei Mei are made of rotocast vinyl.  Di Di is approximately 6” in height, Mei Mei is slightly larger at 6.5”, but they both have 3 points of articulation (head and arms). They also both have the “Protect and Destroy!”motto printed on their back.

Each character’s single accessory is a sword.  Di Di’s sword has a black blade with a white handle and Mei Mei’s is the inverse.  They have similar red tassels at the end of the handle.

The other somewhat less obvious difference between the two is the figure’s legs.  Di Di has a small space in between his feet, while Mei Mei has a completely solid base.  Both figures are limited to a run of 800 figures.

KILLA INSTINCT

Transformed by toxic spray paint fumes, this mutated graff writer (looking quite a bit like Marka himself) is ready for action with tools of the trade – a bad-ass removable gas mask, spray can, marker, bolt cutters, finger rings, and more.

Graff is part of Killa Instinct's being. So much so that he's got a spray can erupting out of his back. Don't you dare call him a hunch back though. The spray can which fuels his exploits directly through his gas mask also doubles as a secret stash with a removable top – for markers, an old school King or whatever else you want.

Great graff-inspired design by Kano and pretty cool use of materials too. Frosty clear bottle with pink inside...packing a box knife and a set of brass knuckles, this is one bottle you wouldn't want to mess with.

EYEGORE (SILVER)

If "Big Daddy" Ed Roth was the God of Lowbrow, The Pizz is certainly the Lord of the movement. Original and creative, he leads by example with deft brushwork, luminous overlay of color and a keen artistic sensibility, conferring his message to his disciples like the second coming. Many a contemporary "lowbrow" artist cite The Pizz as one of their major influences.

From The Pizz himself...

"Eyegore was birthed in a painting displayed in the Laguna Art Museum's "Kustom Kulture" exhibition. The piece was named "A Salute To The Holy Trinity Of Von Dutch, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and Robt. Wms"... back in 1992.

Featuring a little chrome eyeball dude, he's an amalgamation of the three hot-rod maestros' various signature creations and stylistic calling cards, so we got Dutch's Flying Eyeball and Roth's Rat Fink and William's Cootchy Cootie, with a heavy mix of the three's cult-like Wehrmacht obsession and the overabundance of chromage...He also harkens to my creation for the Sympathy For The Record Industry's "Eldridge Cleaver" character...same hob-nailed biker boots and WWI-era StahlHelm..."

Eyegore was sculpted by Ray Brown.
